Clyde Hill News — Special Edition: Eckel selected to city council
Newest councilmember to be sworn in at next week’s meeting; candidate registration for November election opens May 15
This evening, the City Council appointed Ashley Eckel, MD, PhD to fill the vacant city council seat. The vote was unanimous.
Dr. Eckel is on faculty at UW; you can read more about her here (link).
During the process, several councilmembers called out the difficulty of the decision and how strong the entire field of candidates was.
Election ahead
This November, Clyde Hill residents will elect a new mayor as well as two councilmembers.
Between May 15 and May 19, anyone who is a registered voter and has resided in Clyde Hill for at least a year can sign up as a candidate for mayor, council seat 2, or council seat 4 at the King County Elections website (link). (Council seats 1, 3, and 5 will be up for election in November 2025.)
